New Arts Facility In Cleveland
Josaphat Arts Hall is a new arts facility in a not so new building. Located only a few minutes from downtown Cleveland OH, this new arts facility gets its name from its original namesake. The former St. Josaphat Roman Catholic Church was built in 1915.
Like most religious facilities it served the surrounding community and played an instrumental role in the development of the neighborhood. Throughout the history of the parish, the building represented not only the dreams and memories of its members but also of its neighbors. An individual only needs to spend several minutes outside of the building to hear the recollections of its friends. Sadly, in 1998 the parish closed its doors due to economics. The spiritual community it served could no longer support the immediate needs of the deteriorating building, which was in poor condition. The structure was desanctified and all religious artifacts were removed and relocated prior to its sale.
Today, the renovated sacred structure that was erected as a gathering place has reopened as a gathering space, bringing people of all ethnicity together through curiosity, respect and love of the arts.

A Gallery and Art Studios
It is the personal relationship between art, space and self that is the foundation for Convivium33 Gallery, which is located in the nave of the former church. "So, what are four walls anyway?" "They are ....what they contain." Josaphat Arts Hall is unique and special in many ways. The sacred structure which will house the new Convivium33 Gallery will also be the new location for several art business studios.
The economic benefits which enrich communities through the arts are recognized. A visit to the building can introduce a guest to the arts through interactive art opportunities. Private classes, workshops and lectures are now being offered in the individual studio businesses. Included are stained glass, painting, web design, glass fusion and slumping. Please see Studio Residents for additional contact information.
Art is not a treasure in the past or an importation from another land, but part of the present life of all living and creating peoples
